The Arch MK4's 28mm internal width and patented lightweight, low-profile design is not afraid to climb, while being an absolute monster on the descents. The Arch MK4 rims feature an asymmetric design with offset spoke holes to improve spoke angle and create a stronger all-around wheel. MK4 front and rear wheels of the same diameter all use the exact same very common spoke length, both sides, front and rear. Serviceability doesn't get any easier than that. Designed and CNC machined by Project321 in Bend, Oregon, M-pulse freehubs feature 6 pawls with Neodymium magnets that lock into place with greater force than conventional pawl springs, but offer virtually no resistance when coasting. Multiple teeth on each pawl offer better load distribution for years of trouble-free riding, and the angle of the pawls was engineered to transfer stress away from the rotating bearings, decreasing stress and wear on the entire freehub. Enter: the Big Aluminum Deal and Big Half Aluminum Deal. At 80mm wide, these wheels offer superb fit with all common fat bike tire sizes. They have the same patented Inflatobam tubeless technology as their carbon brethren - saving over a pound in inner tubes alone. What's the difference between the B.A.D. and the B.H.A.D.? Only the rim diameter. The B.A.D. has a 24" or 26" diameter, while the B.H.A.D. is made for larger 27.5" fat bike tires. Big Deal utilizes a ribbed, single-wall design to maximize stiffness and minimize rotational weight…all on a tubeless-ready platform. Compared to most aluminum fat bike wheel/tire combinations in the market today, you can expect to lose 1.5 to 2 pounds… per wheel. Note that the Big Deal is drilled symmetrically ONLY and cannot accommodate offset frames. Big Deal utilizes Inflatobam, Hed’s patented tubeless technology for installing big tires. The twin channel rim design provides a better pre-inflation seal by trapping each tire bead against the rim. This drastically reduces the amount of air it takes to get the beads to “bam” into place. In conjunction with the rim shape, Inflatobam utilizes Inflatobands. These effectively provide a variable rim-channel diameter. There's a lot of talk about the virtues of being fat. Fat bikes, fat wheels, fat tires... low pressures, more grip, more bacon, and more doughnuts. It's all about being bigger, badder, and fatter - right?! Yes and no. While we absolutely love getting awesomely fat with our Big Deal and B.F.D. wheels - sometimes we like to go on a diet. Sometimes fat bikes don't have clearance for 100mm rims. Sometimes we only want to have one bike and one wheel set for both summer and winter. What could we possibly do to get out of this quagmire? How could we live a slightly-less-fat existence? There's only one answer. We made the N.B.D. - No Big Deal. The No Big Deal is a 65mm-wide carbon rim of semi-fat bliss. It has our patented Inflatobam technology for easy tubeless setup. It weighs an insane 450 grams. Your fat bike has never been lighter, faster, or more fun. Build Options The No Big Deal is available as a rim-only, or as a complete wheel using Hed Brickhouse hubs. Customers may also send in their own hubs for custom builds (see below for further info). The Big Deal is built with bladed steel spokes and brass nipples. NOTE: In order to send hubs to us for a custom build, the dealer will need to call 651-653-0202 for an RA number. The HED Ardennes Plus LT Disc Brake Clincher Wheelset gains a smidgen of weight and drops the price compared to the line-topping SLs because of its standard HED bladed spokes, but it still boasts the same beefy yet lightweight rims for sure-footed handling and speedy spin-up. Whether you're looking for a race-worthy wheelset to tackle a 'cross course or heading out for epic gravel adventures, this wheelset is bound to bump up the fun factor on any ride. The Ardennes Plus takes HED's C2 rim design even a step further compared to the standard Ardennes profile. Two additional millimeters of width result in an improved tire profile when paired with the wider tires used in 'cross and gravel applications for even better grip and faster rolling. The wider rim puts more of the tire on the ground, and that increased contact patch means more grip, especially while cornering. Better yet, by widening the tire's base, more of the sidewall is oriented vertically, which means the tire is better able to deform around surface irregularities — you'll roll through them, not over them. And just in case you're looking for the fastest rolling setup around, the Plus SL is compatible with tubeless setups in addition to traditional clincher tires with tubes. HED laces the Plus LT's to its Sonic Disc hub in the front, with wide flanges for impeccable stiffness and resistance to torsional forces. The rear hub is HED's new 545 J-bend hub, featuring five pawls and 45 teeth for lightning-fast engagement to torque over steep inclines and technical terrain. Both hubs are compatible with centerlock rotors, with separately sold adapters available for use with 6-bolt rotors. Tubeless rim tape is included, but thru-axles are sold separately. Please note that HED recommends a maximum tire pressure of 100 PSI for these rims.
