Nothing else offers the same combination of easy tubeless setup, stiffness, and jaw-dropping weight savings. They're utterly fat-tastic. In an effort to bring the advantages of Big Deal technology to an even wider audience, our engineers worked hard to apply the same principles to an aluminum platform. Enter: the Big Aluminum Deal and Big Half Aluminum Deal. At 80mm wide, these wheels offer superb fit with all common fat bike tire sizes. They have the same patented Inflatobam tubeless technology as their carbon brethren - saving over a pound in inner tubes alone. What's the difference between the B.A.D. and the B.H.A.D.? Only the rim diameter. The B.A.D. has a 24" or 26" diameter, while the B.H.A.D. is made for larger 27.5" fat bike tires. Big Deal utilizes a ribbed, single-wall design to maximize stiffness and minimize rotational weight…all on a tubeless-ready platform. Compared to most aluminum fat bike wheel/tire combinations in the market today, you can expect to lose 1.5 to 2 pounds… per wheel. Note that the Big Deal is drilled symmetrically ONLY and cannot accommodate offset frames. Big Deal utilizes Inflatobam, Hed’s patented tubeless technology for installing big tires. The twin channel rim design provides a better pre-inflation seal by trapping each tire bead against the rim. This drastically reduces the amount of air it takes to get the beads to “bam” into place. In conjunction with the rim shape, Inflatobam utilizes Inflatobands. These effectively provide a variable rim-channel diameter. This compensates for the discrepancies in tire bead diameters by minimizing the gap between the tire and the rim channels (the main source of air leaks). Once seated, the angled bead shelf prevents the tire from collapsing back into the rim at low pressure. Our interior surfacing and tight tolerances ensure no tire burp or slip. The bikes keep getting wider, the tires keep getting larger, and the Big Fat Deal is ready for the challenge. At a whopping 100mm wide, it can make the most of your fat bike footprint, for the ultimate in flotation over soft or powdery surfaces. At an incredibly light 500 grams per rim, the BFD is also much lighter than competitors’ skinnier aluminum rims. Combined with a tubeless tire setup, it is possible to lose up to two pounds per wheel when switching to Hed BFDs. We know you like it big. We know you like it carbon. We know that, well, you're kind of a Big Deal, and people know you. Thus far, our Big Deal fat rims and wheels have won the hearts of cyclists around the world. What if that's not enough for you? What if we told you that we now have an even BIGGER deal than before? Enter: The Big Half Deal (B.H.D.). This is a special, larger diameter version of our beloved 85mm-wide carbon Big Deal rim. With a 27.5-inch size, it's smack-dab-HALF-way between a 26" wheel and a 29" wheel. If you have a new-fangled 27.5" fat bike, this is THE performance wheel choice. There's a lot of talk about the virtues of being fat. Fat bikes, fat wheels, fat tires... low pressures, more grip, more bacon, and more doughnuts. It's all about being bigger, badder, and fatter - right?! Yes and no. While we absolutely love getting awesomely fat with our Big Deal and B.F.D. wheels - sometimes we like to go on a diet. Sometimes fat bikes don't have clearance for 100mm rims. Sometimes we only want to have one bike and one wheel set for both summer and winter. What could we possibly do to get out of this quagmire? How could we live a slightly-less-fat existence? There's only one answer. We made the N.B.D. - No Big Deal. The No Big Deal is a 65mm-wide carbon rim of semi-fat bliss. It has our patented Inflatobam technology for easy tubeless setup. It weighs an insane 450 grams. Your fat bike has never been lighter, faster, or more fun. That faint cheering you hear is the collective glee of gravel grinders and cyclocross racers from all corners of the earth in reaction to the news of a disc brake compatible Ardennes Plus. The HED Ardennes Plus LT Disc Brake Clincher Wheelset gains a smidgen of weight and drops the price compared to the line-topping SLs because of its standard HED bladed spokes, but it still boasts the same beefy yet lightweight rims for sure-footed handling and speedy spin-up. Whether you're looking for a race-worthy wheelset to tackle a 'cross course or heading out for epic gravel adventures, this wheelset is bound to bump up the fun factor on any ride. The Ardennes Plus takes HED's C2 rim design even a step further compared to the standard Ardennes profile. Two additional millimeters of width result in an improved tire profile when paired with the wider tires used in 'cross and gravel applications for even better grip and faster rolling. The wider rim puts more of the tire on the ground, and that increased contact patch means more grip, especially while cornering. Better yet, by widening the tire's base, more of the sidewall is oriented vertically, which means the tire is better able to deform around surface irregularities — you'll roll through them, not over them. And just in case you're looking for the fastest rolling setup around, the Plus SL is compatible with tubeless setups in addition to traditional clincher tires with tubes. HED laces the Plus LT's to its Sonic Disc hub in the front, with wide flanges for impeccable stiffness and resistance to torsional forces. The rear hub is HED's new 545 J-bend hub, featuring five pawls and 45 teeth for lightning-fast engagement to torque over steep inclines and technical terrain.
