Gravel

$1,699.00
Straggler is a bikepacking-inspired road/gravel bike mostly at home on pavement but ready for trail duty when called. Born on Gravel. Raised on Pavement Straggler is tuned for cross-over exploration on a wide variety of terrain conditions. It's a day-tripper and a weekender. It's a "rough road" road bike, a cyclocross bike with no pretense about racing, a utilitarian townie, a light-duty touring bike and an all-weather commuter. It's a steel gravel bicycle that thrives on the road. Think of it as a "mountain biker's road bike." If you only have room for one bike in your life, Straggler can (and should) be your one and only. Straggler's capabilities go well beyond asphalt. It also lends itself well to light touring setups. We're talking frame bags, seat bags, and "credit card touring" rather than full-blown touring. Straggler also handles our 8- and 24-Pack Racks well, so you have some heavier-duty loading options. - Accommodations for racks and fenders - Forward-exiting horizontal dropouts for singlespeed compatibility and wheelbase adjustability - Clearance for 700c x 41mm tires with fenders!

It’s inspired by a place where history runs deep. North of Boston, in the county now known as Essex, Chebacco Parish was one of the earliest European settlements in the mid-1600s. Today, centuries-old roads, paths and trails make it a perfect place for adventurous rides—if you have the right bike. Meet the Chebacco LE. It’s named after our local stomping grounds, but it’s at home wherever roads can get rough and rides turn into adventures. Gravel grinding, cyclocross racing, tackling a commute in the urban jungle. Now, for the first time, you can do all those things on one bike that delivers remarkable versatility plus the signature Parlee ride quality. Rather than follow the traditional blueprint for a cyclocross bike, we set out to create a premium ride experience with nearly unlimited capabilities. With disc brakes, wide tire clearance (up to 40mm) and hidden fender mounts front and rear, this 100 percent carbon fiber frame that lets you expand your riding possibilities—while giving up nothing in terms of lightweight performance and ride quality. The Chebacco LE shares the same DNA as Parlee road bikes such as the Z series and Altum models. The frame is handcrafted from the same carbon fiber materials, but with purpose-built geometry and design features including wider chainstays and seatstays. The bottom bracket is a bit lower than traditional Euro’ style cyclocross bikes, and the head tube angle a bit slacker. This gives the Chebacco LE a smooth, stable ride at speed, especially when you’re pounding through gravel, dirt or variable road surfaces. The Chebacco LE’s rear brake hose is routed through the downtube and chainstay, allowing the rear disc brake caliper to be mounted inside the triangle. The rear dropouts are modular, compatible with either thru-axle or QR, and the frame also includes integrated fender mounts for a sleek setup in wet weather conditions. You don’t need three different bikes for cyclocross racing, gravel grinding and winter road riding. You just need one Parlee.

We custom build OPEN bikes to your specs. Call (651-644-2354) for full build pricing. For simplicity and to stay true to their focus on frames alone, Open Cycle offers their bikes as framesets only. This means that every Open bike you see being ridden is a fully custom build. There are a lot of fancy builds out there for the U.P.P.E.R., but in our experience we’ve found that most riders are just looking for performance and reliability within a reasonable budget. We enjoy walking our customers through every step of the part-selection process, but for cyclists who would rather spend time planning their next ride instead of picking out components, we’ve put together a complete OPEN U.P.P.E.R. build that we would be proud to ride. Introducing our OPEN U.P.P.E.R. Ultegra Bike. Because the U.P.P.E.R. is such a versatile bike that can be ridden on any number of surfaces, we’ve hand selected parts that offer reliable, powerful performance on road, cross, gravel, bike packing, and more. A detailed parts spec is listed below, but for the important stuff, we include a full Shimano Ultegra mechanical or Di2 11 speed group with Shimano hydraulic brakes. The cockpit features lightweight alloy handlebar, stem, and seatpost, from Fizik. For wheels, we’ve gone with two different options, both from Stan’s No Tubes. Stan’s is synonymous with tubeless wheel and tire setups, and their latest offerings combine a great blend of high quality, low-weight, easy setup and minimal maintenance. We’ve selected Stan’s Grail wheels for our 700c setup – they are a proven choice for cyclocross, gravel, or road riding. To accommodate the larger tires on the 650B setup, we’ve selected Stan’s Arch 27.5? mountain bike wheels. They’re still plenty light, but offer additional durability for rougher trails, and their extra width gives knobbies better bite and a smoother ride. Simply tell us what your favorite tires are and we can get an OPEN U.P.P.E.R. build going before your next epic ride. The OPEN U.P.P.E.R. Ultegra Complete Bike is available in four sizes, Small – X-Large (see geometry chart for details). It is available in the color Matte Black. Whether you’re heading to Salt Lake City, or prefer we ship your Open U.P.P.E.R. bike to you, we’ll do a full, professional bike build, dialing in shifting and braking, truing wheels, etc. If you’re unsure about sizing, give us a call or email us at info@contenderbicycles.com to talk through geometry and fit. And although this is a “stock bike,” we are more than happy to discuss variations of this builds.
