That’s how Áspero debuted under the characters of the Wednesday Night Rough Club two years ago, and that’s how it’s stayed. And since, at Cervélo, they know that flat out doesn’t stay flat out for long without a little help from science, so they've come back from the drawing board with a new Áspero. A faster Áspero, a lighter Áspero, and—dare we say it—an even better looking Áspero.
Our engineers like to say, "If it looks fast, it probably is"—but there’s some truth to it, and Áspero-5 looks fast standing still. No cables in the wind, tubes derived from our library of aerodynamically proven shapes, and just a hint of a cut out in the seat tube to squeak out just a bit more tire clearance, add up to a bike that proves the adage.
From day one the Áspero has been one of our favorite gravel bikes on our show floor, and that's saying a lot when you look at what it's up against. Open, 3T, Pinarello, and Otso, just to name a few. It's hard to stand out amongst a crowd of heavy hitters like that, but the Áspero has managed to pull it off. The gravel in this part of the country is flat and fast, and that plays right into the Áspero's hand. It's motto is "Haul ass, not cargo", and the newest version takes that and turns it up to eleven. We're very excited to introduce you to this new and improved version of our favorite gravel rig.
